WHY SHOULD WE PROTECT THE ECOSYSTEM?

Ecosystem and biodiversity are crucial for human life. However, we continue to abolish the ecosystem by causing great damage day by day. I live in Konya, and there are great irreversible destructive damage to the ecosystem. Do you know that there have been large potholes in Konya, Karapınar region, in recent years? So do also you know that many lakes and water sources like Akşehir and Eber lakes in Konya have dried up? Have you heard that the water capacity of Lake Beyşehir is reduced by 20 %? In addition to these questions, organic fertilization is also very common in agriculture. I think most of the cases I mentioned above are due to our lack of conservation of ecosystems.
Today, you realize that the majority of scientific publications in developed countries are about ecosystem conservation. However, publications on the ecosystem are very rare in our country. This is a phenomenon that shows how different countries are interested in the subject. Scientists mention that there are many ways to protect the ecosystem. First, we should reduce the use of organic fertilizer that can hurt the environment. Second, we must protect our underground and surface water resources. Third, we should not do the hunting activity more than necessary to protect natural resources. Finally, we have to recycle and try to keep the environment clean.
A lot of people in Turkey do not know anything about the importance of the ecosystem today. Hence, there are difficulties in understanding the proposals for the solution of problems in the ecosystem. In addition, there are not enough courses on ecosystem in school curricula. This is one of the main reasons why the destruction in ecosystem in our country is so high.
If we protect the ecosystem, we will have a longer and better life. If we don't want to see dried lakes, rivers and large potholes as in Konya, we must protect the ecosystem. For this, we can start by making programs pointing out the importance of the subject and emphasizing the necessity of education on this issue.
